Lyons prepared for double test

SHEFFIELD Sharks player-coach Atiba Lyons say his team are ready for a tough back-to-back weekend, which starts tonight with the visit of Newcastle Eagles in the BBL Trophy semi-final first leg.

It’s vital that Sharks get off to a good start at the EIS. The Eagles have beaten them three times this season and will feel confident of coming through when the teams meet again to conclude the tie next Friday in Newcastle.

But Lyons said his team looks prepared: “We’ve had a good week of practice. The guys are energised and I feel good about our chances.”

There will be no rest for the Sharks with a trip down the M1 to Leicester Riders tomorrow night. The Riders are challenging the Eagles at the top of the BBL Championship.

Lyons said: “We can’t afford to leave anything out there tonight; we have to give it our all. I think Newcastle are the best team in the league but Leicester have a lot of talent.”

Sharks have been boosted by the news that Nate Reinking’s injury isn’t season ending. However, he won’t be fit for several weeks.
