Lyons pleased by Patton boost

SHEFFIELD Sharks player-coach Atiba Lyons says his team’s win over Guildford Heat can spur his team to a strong second half of the season.

The Sharks were playing for the first time since point guard Ryan Patton returned to the club, with Justin Dobbins being released.

This Friday the Sharks take on MK Lions at the EIS with Lyons saying that Patton has given the club a boost.

“We are small so we have to work extra hard outside the paint. Hopefully we can do a better job this part of the season and pick up some wins,” said Lyons.

“Ryan will bring that for us. He’s still finding his niche for us. It was his first game, even though he has been practising with us.”

Patton scored 14 points - 10 in the first quarter - on his return.

Lyons said: “He tried to do a little but too much in the first half to show what he’s got but he doesn’t need to do that.

“In the second half he kept us under control.

Second half we made some adjustments and did a better job of controlling the game offensively.”
