Sharks player-coach Atiba Lyons has praised the play of big players Paul Williams and Mike Tuck.
The forward pair were responsible for half of Sharks’ 98 points against MK Lions on Tuesday in a comfortable victory. Usually it is the backcourt of Steve Dagostino, Ryan Patton and Marcus Stout who form the bulk of the offence.
But with Stout injured and Dagostino and Patton misfiring it was the incessant inside pressure of Williams and Tuck that made the difference. Lyons says his team need to get the ball to his forwards.
He said: “We have to do a better job of getting them going. Our big guys are our strength; they can pass and score. We need to take advantage of that.”
Canadian power-forward Tuck says Sharks are now seeing the best of his Williams: “The league doesn’t see too many of 6ft 10 ins guys. It takes a while to find out how you’re going to be called for fouls. Now we’re starting to see what he can do.”
