SHEFFIELD Sharks have begun to build their backcourt for the coming season with the signing of American point guard Gage Daye.
Daye attended Bloomfield College and became their all-time leading points scorer in his senior year.
Following this, the 6’3” New Jersey native played last season for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA Development League.
The signing of 23-year-old Daye means it is unlikely that last season’s guard duo of Ryan Patton and Jimmy Langhurst will be returning to the club.
However, Great Britain international Nate Reinking is a guard who Sharks would welcome back to the EIS if a deal could be reached.
Daye’s deal comes on the back of Sharks securing the services of Canadian big man Mike Tuck for another season.
The Star understands Londoner Olu Babalola is close to agreeing a deal with the club ahead of their first match of the season against East London Royals at the EIS on Friday, September 21.
