Dignified in defeat

Have your say

Sharks coach Atiba Lyons says he has no complaints about losing the Play-off Final against Mersey Tigers.

Lyons saw his team out-performed by the treble-winning Tigers to end the season on a disappointing note.

He said: “They were better than us. They weren’t outstanding but they did more than us and made their shots when they needed to.

“They came out a little more aggressive; they set the tone and knocked us around. We didn’t respond well and that caused them to have some open shots. It wasn’t the start to the game that I’d like, but we haven’t started well in a month and a half.

“The key for them is that they’re the best defensive team and that has won them the championship.

“They played an outstanding game.”

Sharks American players are set to fly home over the next few days.

Lyons said: “We’ll talk with all the guys before they go home.”
