Sheffield basketball star Devon Van Oostrum has set his sights on making the Great Britain Olympic team after experiencing the new basketball arena yesterday.
Van Oostrum, aged 18, plays for Spanish Premier League club Caja Laboral and is part of the 15 man British squad for this week’s Olympic test event in London.
The former Silverdale school student had his first taste of the new basketball venue when the British team trained yesterday.
Van Oostrum, who came through the ranks of the Junior Sharks before signing a deal with the Basque-based club, posted on Twitter: “Just had our first practice in the Olympic Park Basketball Arena... Could definitely get used to playing there!”
Britain will welcomes NBA player Luol Deng into their squad to play France tomorrow, the Croatia, Serbia, China and Australia.
