Bounce back needed, says Lyons

sheffield Sharks player-coach Atiba Lyons is upbeat ahead of his team’s first match of 2012 tonight against Cheshire Jets.

Lyons is hoping his team can respond from their defeat at Glasgow on December 30 with a win over the Jets at the English Institute of Sport.

He said: “If we’re going to put any sort of run going then we can’t afford to string together defeats. We have to show we can bounce back from the loss at Glasgow with a better offensive performance.”

Lyons is hopeful that big man Justin Dobbins will be available after picking up a back injury in the loss north of the border. He said: “Justin is day-to-day at the moment. We’ll see how he is later but I think he’ll be okay.”

Sharks will definitely be without Jimmy Langhurst, but with the experienced Nate Reinking running point guard duties for the last few matches it shouldn’t affect Lyons’s plans too much.

Sheffield can move into fifth in the BBL with a victory.
