SHEFFIELD Sharks veteran Mike Tuck has praised fellow Canadian Nick Lewis for making an impression in his first season with the club.
Toronto native Tuck, who will celebrate his 30th birthday next month, has been a vital part of the Sharks team since joining the club in 2009.
He says 19-year-old Lewis has deservedly earned the trust of coach Atiba Lyons and is part of Sheffield’s resurgence in form that has led them to within 40 minutes of the BBL Trophy final.
He said: “We brought in BJ Holmes and Demetrius Jemison during the season and we’re gelling really well. Nick Lewis has also stepped up in the last few games and made some big shots. He’s shown Atiba what he can do and he’s got his trust now.”
Sharks have a 14-point lead to defend tomorrow night at the EIS against Cheshire Phoenix in the second leg of the Trophy semi-final.
On Sunday seventh placed Sheffield travel to the capital to take on sixth placed London Lions hoping to close the gap in the BBL Championship.
Sharks are four points behind London with five games in hand.
