Sharks coach Atiba Lyons says he’s expecting Patrick Horstmann to make a big impression in the BBL.
Horstmann, aged 26, has joined the Sharks this summer after finishing his degree course at Northwood University in Florida.
The 6’7” forward is originally from Wettenburg, Germany, and has had spells at German clubs Urspring and Ehingen before moving to America.
Lyons said because Horstmann played for a relatively unheralded college in the States he may come into the BBL with other teams not knowing much about him.
“Patrick is a good player,” he said.
“He had eligibility issues (for joining a top ranked NCAA university) with playing professionally in Germany so he played in the NAIA league, which is a very competitive standard.”
Horstmann represented Germany at under 16, 18 and 20 levels and he made the most of his time at Northwood as he ended as the university’s leading rebounder and second leading scorer.
