Sharks coach Atiba Lyons has pointed to first leg failings after becoming the ‘nearly’ team in the BBL this season.

Sheffield reached the semi-finals of the BBL Cup, Trophy and Play-offs but didn’t managed to make it to a final.

Lyons said: “We got outplayed by Newcastle Eagles in Cup, and in the Trophy we left it too late each game. The same thing happened in play-offs.”

Sharks actually won their first leg against Newcastle in the Cup 82-79 but didn’t put enough of a margin between the teams and went down 84-57 in the second game.

Worcester Wolves won both legs in the Trophy semi-final – 62-60 and 84-70 – and the Wolves also beat Sharks twice in last weekend’s play-off semi-final – 79-59 in Sheffield and 67-60 on the road.
