Sheffield Sharks coach Atiba Lyons is in no rush to replace point-guard Brian Barbour, who has left the club due to family reasons.
Barbour had impressed Lyons during pre-season but he contract was cancelled when it became clear he’d need to return to the United States for an unspecified time.
The Star understands that American BJ Holmes, who was part of the team last season, is a favourite to replace Barbour but Lyons said there will be no quick decisions.
“I’m going to take my time and see who is out there. We already have players in the squad who can handle point guard duties.
“We wish Brian all the best, he’d been looking good during his time here.”
Meanwhile, forward Da’Quan Cook is expected to arrive in Sheffield today from America.
Sharks first BBL match this season is on Friday night at the EIS against Cheshire Phoenix.
