Sheffield Sharks coach Atiba Lyons has challenged his players to maintain their fine start to the season when they entertain London Lions in the first round of the BBL Cup tonight.
Sharks have won five out of their opening six fixtures and are chasing a fourth successive win at the English Institute of Sport (EIS).
Lyons told The Star: “We wanted to make the EIS a fortress this year and hopefully we are doing that. We were pretty solid against Durham Wildcats last week. We did enough to win but the London game is going to be as hard if not harder than facing the Wildcats. We are still trying to figure ourselves out; we have got to keep on improving.”
When the two sides last met in March, Sharks triumphed 79-63 on home soil in the BBL Championship. The winner of tonight’s tie will play the Wildcats in the quarter-finals of the competition.
Sharks forward Mike Tuck added: “It’s been a couple of years since we’ve had the cup in Sheffield and would be great to get it back.”
