BASKETBALL: Gordon no show poses problem

FORMER Sheffield Sharks coach Chris Finch faces a tough decision with NBA star Ben Gordon still not at the Great Britain pre-Olympic training camp in Houston.

Gordon, who plays for Detroit Pistons, has repeatedly been unavailable for Britain despite declaring his intention to play in the Olympic Games. The London-born guard has yet to pull on a British vest.

British Basketball performance director Chris Spice said: “Ben Gordon is continuing his training in Detroit and has not yet joined the GB squad this summer. His situation will be reassessed in a week’s time when we will be in a position to comment further.”

Mersey Tigers forward Myles Hesson has been called into the training camp to replace Nick George who suffered a thigh strain in the first practice session.
