SHEFFIELD Sharks ended 2011 on a low as the were comfortably beaten for the second time this season north of the border by Glasgow Rocks.
Playing without point-guard Jimmy Langhurst the Sharks were blown away by a fourth quarter burst which took the match from being relatively tight at 51-47 to 70-56 with two minutes to play.
Earlier Sharks fell behind 8-2 early in the match before a 12-4 run gave them their second lead of the night at 14-12. However, Rocks had the last say of the first quarter with Gareth Murray’s three-point shot giving them a 19-16 advantage.
Sheffield dominated the majority of the second quarter to go 28-24 up but Rocks responded with a 10-4 burst before half time to take a 34-32 lead in at the interval.
The third quarter saw Sharks take brief leads at 40-38 and 42-40 but Rocks still held the advantage heading in the final quarter with another Murray three helping the home to 51-47.
