Sheffield Sharks are expected to announce the signing of American forward Da’Quan Cook this week.

Cook, aged 25, is set to be coach Atiba Lyons’ final acquisition before the season begins with the visit of Cheshire Phoenix to the EIS on Friday, September 27.

The 6’8” forward was recommended to the Sharks by former player Paul Williams with the two both graduating from St Bonaventure University in New Jersey.

Cook is the second ‘permit’ signing for the Sharks this summer after shooting guard Jeremie Simmons agreed a deal last week.

The club are allowed to have three permit players on the roster.

Sharks will begin pre-season training in earnest this week as they bid to contend for the BBL Championship this season.

Cook and Simmons arrive in Sheffield highly-rated and will add to the summer’s earlier signings of point guard Brian Barbour, forward Patrick Horstmann and returning players Mike Tuck, Nick Lewis, Colin Sing, Zach Gachette and George Brownell.

Power forward Olu Babalola is expected to sign his new deal soon.
