Atkinson sets standard in Carcroft midweek win

Lol Atkinson’s 21-2 win proved decisive for Carcroft in their 143-136 Midweek League Division One over Pilks Rec after Craig Rumney won 21-7 for the visitors.

Carcroft also beat Denaby 165-131.

Graham Garnett won 21-8 for Westfield Park but finished on the losing team as captain Phil Stones (21-7) inspired Carcroft’s 150-95 victory.

Maltby suffered their first defeat of the season (152-133) as Chris Brown (21-9) and Colin Squires (21-6) recorded good wins for Woodlands Park

Brian Stubbs (21-6) was the hero of Adwick’s 148-142 Division Two win over Adwick.

Mick O’Sullivan’s 21-7 win for Yorkshire Main counted for nothing as the league leaders were beaten for the first time this season (150-133) thanks chiefly to a 21-9 win from Woodlands Park B’s Adam Jones.

Mick Coulson (21-8) was the best winner in Parklands’ 156-121 Division Three win at Askern. Eddie Birdsey’s 21-8 win for Thorne was cancelled out by Craig Bamford (21-8) and Jane Morris (21-9) for Hexthorpe in their 141-121 success.

George Brackenbury (21-5) and Paddy Moyles (21-6) finished strongly for Bawtry B in their 159-110 Division Four win over Adwick B.

Pilks Rec C won 149-147 at Carcroft B.

Matthew Griffiths was a 21-1 winner for Bentley Colliery in their 167-108 win over Westfield Park B.

Doreen Heptinstall (21-5) and Keith Haydon (21-9) featured for Brodsworth B in their 134-126 Division Five win over Rossington B, for whom Frank Law (21-6) shone. .

Parklands B had good wins from Eric Royston (21-6), Derek Gabbitus (21-7) and Derek Birch (21-8) when beating Hexthorpe B.

Dick Lindley (21-9) and Alan Marsden (21-7) caught the eye for Hexthorpe B in their 165-115 win over Unison B.
