THE tears aren’t that far away.

This is Sheffield’s Jessica Ennis trying her best to come to terms with being second best.

She collected a silver medal at the World Championships in South Korea but lost her title as world heptathlon champion.

“I haven’t shed any tears yet but I might do later,” she confessed. “Obviously it’s disappointing, but if I was to fall short any year it was best it was this year, the year before the Olympics.”

Coach Toni Minichiello doesn’t believe Jess should be down for too long about her performance.

“I don’t think it will take her a long time to get over this,” he said. “After the (poor distance) javelin and having that long period to think about it, I think she proved she’s over it by going out hard in the 800 metres. I think she’s over it now.”
