Sheffield and Doncaster girls in triumphant eptathlon team

South Yorkshire won the Senior Girls Heptathlon Team Competition at the 27th English Schools Combined Events championship at Boston.

The team, comprising of City of Sheffield AC athletes Amy Hodgson and Olivia Noteman plus two Doncaster AC athletes Lucy Chappell and Beth Taylor, won the competition with an overall team score of 12,170 points, beating the Essex team into second place (11,953 points) and Gloucs into 3rd (11,885 points).

It was an unexpected win for the girls who werefourth after the first six events and going into the 800m but all four girls had great runs which moved them up to first place

In the individual event Amy finished in fifth place with 4418 points, a little down on her PB score after almost falling in the first event - the 100m hurdles.

Lucy finished eighth with a score of 4364 points, Beth 20th on 3388 and Olivia in 23rd with 3290 points.
