Adam Hague (City of Sheffield and Dearne) was again in outstanding form at the English Age Group Championships held at the EIS, Sheffield, at the weekend.
Hague won the under 20 pole vault – his sixth indoor age group title – in a new record of 5.45.
With the competition won, he put the bar up to a European record of 5.61 but theta proved beyond him on this occasion.
His team mate Joshua Lindley-Harris won the under 17 event with a clearance of 4.20
Ella Barrett (Chesterfield) was in sparking form in the under 20 women’s 400 metres taking the title with a personal best of 55.81.
There was also gold medals for Emily Simpson (City of Sheffield) in the under 17 500 metres (4:42.45).
Just missing out on gold were City of Sheffield sprinters Kristie Edwards and Billie-Jo Harris.
Edwards was runner up in the under 20 200 metres (24.26) whilst Harris took silver in the under 17 200 (24.90).
Tilly Simpson (Hallamshire) was beaten in the under 17 800 metres after setting the pace from the halfway mark.
She could not match the finish of Isabelle Boffey (Enfield) despite running close to her best with 2:07.19.
There was also a silver medal for Rotherham’s Lee Thompson in the under 20 400 metres (48.14) and a bronze for Elizabeth Wilkinson (City of Sheffield) in the under 15 800 metres (2:19.67.
