Sheffield Running Club hosted the seventh annual Sheffield Open Cross Country Races at Graves Park on Saturday.
The races attracted a record entry from all over the North and North Midlands, with near perfect conditions running despite the recent wet and windy weather.
Carl Egdell of Hallamshire Harriers took the senior mens race and the Harry Whitehurst Memorial Trophy in a competitive race by just 6 seconds from Sheffield Running Club’s Phil Williams.
Rotherham’s Samantha Johnson ran away with the senior women’s race, and there were local victories for Jodie Hill from Hallam Junior School in the Under -11 girls, Scott Nutter from Barnsley AC in the Under-11 boys, Ana Garcia from City of Sheffield AC in the Under- 13 girls anad Kane Smith from Rotherham Harriers in the Under-15 boys. B Braun sponsored the event.
