More joy for Barrett twins

There was further success for Chesterfield twins Alicia and Ella Barrett in Sainsbury’s School Games at Manchester.

Competing for the Midlands, Alicia won the 80 m hurdles in 11.04 and Ella took the 300 min 38.96.

There were bronze medals for Doncaster’s Joe McGrath in the 100 metres (11.03) and Matthew Miller (City of Sheffield) in the long jump (6.38).

Mo Farah became the first British man to win the Great North Run since Steve Kenyon in 1985 by beating Mike Kigen with a personal best of one hour and one second. He held off the challenge of Kenyan Kigen to win his first title on Tyneside, after finishing second last year.
