Kimberworth Striders showed the 550-strong field a clean pair of heels to claim victory in Sunday’s Norton 9 road race.
With third-placed Arron Larkin (52 minutes) leading the way, Striders took the men’s team prize in the Doncaster race with three runners finishing in the top seven.
Shaun Wright, sixth in a time of 53.10, and Kevin Doyle (53.11) completed the winning team.
Barnsley’s Daren Nockels (Kingstone) was eighth in 53.19 and Sheffield Running Club’s ninth-placed Kevin Lilley (53.28) took the honours in the vet-50 race.
Club-mate John Doherty (53.56) finished just out of the top ten in 11th place, ahead of Steel City Striders’ duo James Fulcher (54.08) and Mike O’Grady (54.12).
John Comrie (54.15) flew the flag for Rotherham Harriers, claiming 14th spot. Joseph Sweetnam-Powell (54.43) was another Sheffield Running Club athlete to finish in the leading 20.
Kingstone’s Fiona Davies, 24th overall, won the women’s race in a time of 55.52.
Denby Dale Travellers took the team honours in the women’s race.
