Sheffielder Dave Trickett has ran halfway to the moon since taking up running at the age of 15 - but he has waltzed straight into the pages of Grass Roots this week.

For David, aged 68, won the over-60s category in the Percy Pud 10k earlier this month - finishing an amazing minute and a half ahead of his nearest challenger!

The incredible story of Dave is just one of the dozens of sports featured in this week’s Roots. We feature the City of Sheffield divers who returned from the Scottish National Championships in Edinburgh with the medals galore, and the two kickboxers who won silverware a little closer to home in their own Steel City.

The Sheffield Sabres v City of Sheffield Saints basketball is our featured match in the centre of the pull-out, and Hallam’s vital game against Appleby Frodingham adorns two of our six pages of football this week.

Along with the usual Treatment Room, angling round up and rugby union news, we also have a heartwarming karate story and the latest from the worlds of badminton, bowls and boxing.

The local sporting scene in Sheffield has never been in a healthier state - and Grass Roots has it all covered, every Friday inside the Sheffield Star.
