Hundreds set for 10k

Have your say

More than 600 runners are expected to contest tonight’s Askern 10k road race (7pm).

Over 500 entries have already been received by the host club and spokesman Dave Collingwood said he expected up to another 100 people to enter on the night.

The race, which boasts a flat, fast course, has again attracted runners from all over Yorkshire and beyond.

Hallamshire duo Ben Beattie and Zak Mellard are among the pre-race favourites as is former winner Gareth Lowe.

Paul Collingwood is expected to fly the flag for the host club.
