WINNERS of the Northern title, Rotherham Harriers women field the same team in the National Road Relay Championship over four stages at Clumber Park tomorrow.
Jade Allen runs the opening leg and will be followed by Steph Burns.
Next comes Annabelle Grady with the anchor stage taken by Jenny Blizard, winner of last week’s Cusworth 10K at Doncaster.
It is a powerful quartet and one which could challenge for medals even against the best teams in the country.
Rotherham have never finished higher than 15th in this race but this time their B team could well top that.
Jessica Fawcett runs first with Laura Spence, who had a fine run for the B team in last week’s Northern Cross Country relay, taking over. She hands on to Rebecca Middleton with Natalie Grant on the final stage.
If anywhere near full strength, Hallamshire could also be prominent.
The venue, which also stages the men’s six stage championship, is a new one, Clumber Park. This has been arranged at short notice as the traditional venue of Sutton Park is unavailable due to an outbreak of e coli which was traced to the park.
The young athletes relays, also scheduled for Sutton park at the weekend, have been postponed until the Spring.
Local athletes will be in action tomorrow in the Rother Valley Trail race.
This race, over approximately six miles, starts at 11:00 am in Rother Valley Country Park and entries will be taken on the day.
