Hallamshire finish in third place

Hallamshire Harriers were bronze medallists in the under 13 girls race at the National Young Athletes Road Relay Championships at Sutton Park.

They narrowly missed medals at under 17 level finishing fourth. In the under 13 three stage relay, Hallamshire’s fastest runner was Imani Wilson who ran 14:45 on the opening stage.

She was ninth against top class opposition with most teams opting to put their best runner on the first stage. Mary McCarthy (15:13) moved Hallamshire through to third and Maddie Pearce (14:48) held the bronze medal position with ease. The race was won by Bracknell while in the under 17 race Hallamshire again started with their best runner, Natalia Hackett and she clocked 13:51 to finish fourth. It was the seventh fastest time of the race.

Hannah Fletcher (15:23) dropped to seventh before Fiona Bell brought the team home in fourth place. Bell’s time of 13:58 was the ninth fastest of the race.
