Hallamshire were back in 29th place out 59 in the men’s race at the National Road Relay championship at Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield, on Saturday.
Dave Archer gave them a decent start on the first leg with time of 27;56 and Andy Heyes gained 11 places on stage two with a time of 14;18 which was the fifth fastest of the day for the short stage. That, though, was as near to the front as Hallamshire got.
Hallamshire failed to finish a team in the women’s six stage relay but Hatti Dean was in sparking form on the first leg finishing runner-up in 16;06, the fourth fastest. Hallam had a moment of glory when Calli Thackery took them into the lead on stage two.
