City of Sheffield were fifth in the final round of the British League (Premier Division) at Manchester.
This gave them third place in the final table, an excellent performance considering they have never been able to field a full strength team. City of Manchester (Sale) won the match and finished as league champions.
Sheffield had no A string winners but decathlete Liam Ramsay was runner up in the 110 metres hurdles (14.74) as well as winning the B long jump (6.84) and finishing fifth in the high jump. Rick Yates clocked the same time as Ramsay in the hurdles for third place in the B race.
Adam Hague, 16, was second in the pole vault with a clearance of 5.20 and Joe Dunderdale was also runner up for Sheffield throwing 70.97 in the javelin, just 4 centimetres short of victory.
Mark Plowman was third for Sheffield in the discus (51.64) with Jamie Williamson, third in the B event (45.12) making it a good event for the Sheffield squad. Gareth Winter was third in the shot (16.91) with Williamson adding points with fifth in the B event.
