SHEFFIELD’S Jessica Ennis have been named British Athletics Writers’ Association woman athlete of the year for the third year in succession.
Ennis retained the women’s trophy after taking silver in the Daegu heptathlon. With three BAWA awards to her name, the 25-year-old is now only one behind Denise Lewis, the 2000 Olympic champion.
Ennis said: “It’s great to once again be recognised by BAWA. The heptathlon is not the easiest discipline to follow and the writers really help the public follow my progress.”
