CITY of Sheffield decathlete Daniel Gardiner competes in three events at the Northern open Indoor Meeting at Sheffield’s EIS tomorrow.

Athletes use this meeting as an aid to their winter training and Gardiner competes in the 60 metres, long jump and shot.

In the latter event he comes up against his Sheffield team mate Jamie Williamson, winner of numerous titles in the event.

On the track, Matt Quine (City of Sheffield) and Joe Gratton (Hallamshire) should do well in the senior events.

In the junior age group Ben Shields (Rotherham) does the 60 metres and is also entered for the 300 where he comes up against Luke South (City of Sheffield). City of Sheffield junior Adam Khan is also listed for the 300 metres as well as the long jump.

Abigail Bishell (City of Sheffield), winner over 150 metres at the last Northern Open meeting, moves up to the 300 metres in the under 20 women’s group.

At under 17 level, Kristie Edwards (City of Sheffield), double winner last time, goes for the 60 metres whilst Joe Lancaster (City of Sheffield) does the under 17 3000 metres after his success in the South Yorkshire Cross Country Championship last weekend.

The meeting gets underway at 11am.
