The third South Yorkshire Cross Country League fixture takes place at Campsall, near Askern on Sunday with the titles wide open.
The league is decided on the best three performances with the final race compulsory. Both men’s and women’s titles have seen different winners at senior le el in the two races to date, Tesfaye Bebala (City of Sheffield) and Hallamshire junior Tom Bains in the men’s races and defending champion Steph Burns (Rotherham) and Hallamshire’s Julia Jagger in the women’s section.
The outcome might be influenced by the UK Cross meeting at Liverpool tomorrow where Burns and Bains are among the entries.
The league meeting gets underway at 11 am with the senior races at noon (women) and 12:30 (men).
The Liverpool meeting is the trial for the British teams to run in the European Championships in Belgrade next month with Bains contesting the junior trial and Burns in the women’s under 23 section. Doncaster’s Bertie Houghton is also listed in the junior men’s race.
