Coach coy on Jess’s chances

Athletics: Results and reports.

THE coach of Jessica Ennis is warning that she still has a lot to do to turn a strong start to the season into a golden one.

Toni Minichiello was delighted with Ennis’s performance at the Aviva Grand Prix in Birmingham on Saturday when the Millhouses-based heptathlete broke her personal best time in the 60-metre hurdles and set a new indoor long jump career mark.

But he said several of her rivals are also in good form ahead of next month’s World Indoor Championship in Turkey: “The other girls are also posting good times and jumps.

“We’re not getting carried away. There’s lots of work still to be done.”
