An impressive sprint double by Kristie Edwards (City of Sheffield) and some top class pole vaulting were features of the first of two Northern Open Indoor meetings at the EIS on Saturday.
Edwards, a junior, was faster than the seniors in both the 60 metres, where she clocked 7.74, and the 150 where she did 17.75, a personal best.
Luke Cutts (Dearne ALC) won the pole vault with 5.30. It was no more than a training outing for the Commonwealth silver medallist although his team mate Adam Hague, a leading junior, was not far behind with a clearance of 5.20.
Dearne ALC junior Abigail Roberts was also in good form clearing 3.80.
Hallamshire’s Jaques Etia was the pick of the younger sprinters winning the under 15 60 metres in a new personal best of 7.57 whilst Matthew Miller (City of Sheffield) improved his time to 7.26 in the under 20 age group.
Tilly Simpson (Hallamshire) transferred her outstanding form on the road and country winning the under 15 600 metres comfortably in 1:37.15
