CITY of Sheffield sprinter Ben Shields was in good early season form in the Wakefield Open Spring Meeting clocking 10.83 to win the 100 metres before losing narrowly to Sale Harrier Umar Hameed in a time of 22.47.

Adam Hague (The Dearne ALC) was outstanding in the under 17 pole vault with a clearance of 4.80 whilst Barnsley’s Amanda Shaw did the sprint double in the women’s section.
