South Yorkshire have selected a team of 32 athletes to compete in the English Schools Championships at Gateshead today and tomorrow.
Silver medallists last year Leo Rowley (Rotherham) and Kaya Walker (Rotherham) move up an age group for this year’s meeting.
Rowley, second in the discus at intermediate level lat year is now a senior whilst Walker, junior high jump runner up last time, is now in the intermediate age group.
Sheffield’s Bronte Jones, a bronze medallist in the intermediate girls discus last year, is in the same age group this time whilst her sister Brodie is named for the intermediate 100 metres. James Gormley (Sheffield) is a strong contender in the senior 1500 metres, whilst Joshua Lindley-Harris (Barnsley) is a medal contender in the intermediate pole vault.
Hallamshire’s Tilly Simpson, record breaker in last year’s junior 800 metres, runs in Derbyshire’s colours and moves up to the intermediate age group.
