The Yorkshire Combined Events Championships take place tomorrow and Sunday at Leeds Metropolitan University.
There is a strong contingent from City of Sheffield Athletic Club for the senior decathlon.
Daniel Gardiner is a strong contender whilst Tom Grantham and Liam Ramsay should also be prominent. Amy Hodgson (City of Sheffield) contests the under 20 women’s heptathlon.
The Askern 10 mile road race, near Doncaster, takes place on Sunday (10:30).
There will be a large South Yorkshire contingent as the race incorporates the South Yorkshire Championships.
Meanwhile Tiffany Porter is on a redemption mission at the World Championships in Moscow.
The 25-year-old United States-born 100 metres hurdler has endured a tough couple of years, seeing her hopes of what looked a certain medal in Daegu two years ago ended by a stumble at the penultimate barrier and her London 2012 ambitions blown apart by a terribly-timed back injury.
She said: “I’m looking forward to running and hopefully redeeming myself. You can’t let those get you down, you can’t really focus on negatives.”
