OLYMPIC heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis’ spectacular gold medal winning performance at London 2012 has been celebrated at the venue where she trains.
The 27-year-old’s achievements at the London Games have been marked in the Hall of Champions at the English Institute of Sport – Sheffield.
The Hall of Champions features athletes who have trained at EIS Sheffield on their way to World or Olympic success.
Jess had already been inducted after becoming World Champion in 2009 and now a giant image of the Sheffield athlete celebrating Olympic gold has been installed in the Hall of Champions.
Ennis said: “The EIS Sheffield has been such a huge part of my preparation for the Olympics and to have my winning image up on the wall with all of the other members of the Hall of Champions makes me very proud – not only of what I have achieved but of the incredible talent that has come out of Sheffield. I hope seeing all the images inspires the school kids who get to train here. We are all very lucky to have such amazing facilities to use.”
