Kristie Edwards (City of Sheffield) attempts a sprint double at the Northern Under 17 and under 15 championships at Wavertree, Liverpool today and tomorrow.
Running in the under 17 age group, Edwards is the fastest in the field but has not raced for a month.
Her Sheffield teammate Eleanor Rawson should also do well and has also entered the 300 metres where Chesterfield’s Ella Barrett is favourite.
Barrett is also listed in the shorter sprints.
Also in the under 17 girls section, Toni Buckingham is a leading contender in the shot and discus . Doncaster’s Lucy Chappell should do well in the high jump.
In the under 17 boys section Adam Hague (Dearne ALC) is the hottest favourite of the meeting.
His five metres personal best in the pole vault is out in front by a big margin.
On the track Hallamshire’s Essa Ahmed is a leading contender for the 800 metres and has also entered the 400.
t Josh Filleul (City of Sheffield) could land a hurdles double at 100 and 400 metres.
Another strong contender is Matthew Miller (Dearne ALC) in the long jump and he also does the 100 metres.
At under 15 level, Billie Jo Harris, fastest in the field, will be looking for a sprint double.
Her City of Sheffield teammate Katie Bower should be a medallist in the high jump.
In the under 15 boys section Lee Rowley (Rotherham) has been a prolific winner this season.
Now he will be looking for further success in the shot and discus.
On the track Hallamshire’s Cameron Bell should do well in the 800 metres.
Mukhtar Mohammed (Sheffield RC) runs the 1500 metres in the British Milers Club Grand Prix at Trafford today.
His target will be to beat his best time of 3:45.82.
