Yorkshire women won the Inter Counties Championship at Bedford over the weekend whilst the men finished seventh.
Racheal Bamford (Otley) won the 1500 metres for Yorkshire but they accumulated their points through several finalists.
City of Sheffield all rounder Karla Drew finished fourth in the 100 hurdles in 13.86 and sixth in the high jump (1.64).
Eighteen year old Doncaster runner Beth Dobbin ran superbly to finish fourth in the 200 metres (24.93) whilst Abigail Bishell (City of Sheffield), 17, was seventh in the 100 in 12.21.
The men had more medallists but lacked the numbers needed to win the title.
Luke Cutts (Dearne ALC) won the pole vault with 5 metres and Rhys Searles (Enfield) made it maximum points for Yorkshire with second place (4.80).
Greg Beard (Newham and Essex) won the shot with a personal best of 18.21 with Sheffield’s Jamie Williamson runner up with 17.84.
Beard and Williamson were also second and sixth respectively in the discus.
On the track Tim Burn (City of Sheffield) was runner up in the 400 metres in 47.48 whilst Todd Marshall (City of Sheffield ran a personal best of 21.54 in finishing seventh in the 200 metres.
In the British Milers Club Grand Prix, also at Bedford, Sheffield’s Mukhtar Mohammed won the 800 metres in 1:48.49.
At the Grand Prix meeting at Birmingham yesterday Hallamshire’s Calli Thackery had a fine win in the junior 3000 metres, finishing just a fraction outside her personal best with a time of 9:28.03.
