Doncaster Athletic Club failed in their bid to reach the British Men’s League in Saturday’s qualifier at Nottingham’s Harvey Haddon Stadium.

The Keepmoat Stadium club, who finished sixth out of six at Abingdon in their previous attempt back in 2013, had to settle for third place in the four-team competition with a total of 219 points.

Sprinter Joe McGrath, who took the honours in the 200 metres in a time of 22.5, was the club’s only winner in the senior events.

Rugby & Northampton (307) and runners-up Reading (264) both qualified for the BAL next season. Brighton & Hove finished fourth.
