Ali's a Shah-fire hit on his professional debut
Brendan Ingle's Sheffield boxing academy produced another debut winner into the pro ranks at the Shaw promotion near Oldham with 21-year-old Ali Shah scoring an impressive 40-35 points victory over four threes over Manchester welterweight Amir Nadi.
Gangly six-footer Shah had Nadi down for eight in the second round to a blistering right to the head, and despite an unorthodox style maintained his advantage throughout a highly competitive bout that four times saw the fighters wrestle each other to the canvas.
Said coach Dominic Ingle: "Brendan spotted the talent of Shah in the gym while others predicted he was too raw to make the grade, and despite his awkward style we are sure he has a good future.
"He works in a clothing store in Meadowhall, and you could say we are sure he is made-to-measure for a successful career."
Another Ingle star Muhsen Adaney Nasser had an impressive 60-56 victory over Walsall welter Jimmy Beech.
