PAUL Rice and Gary Stanley (21-9) were the best pair for Pilkingtons Recreation in their 84-69 Doncaster Bowls Association Bufton Cup second round defeat against Carcroft.

Jack Richardson and Neil Gregory both stood out for Thorpe Marsh Bentley in their 84-46 victory over Adwick B with a 21-9 win.

Brian Nock (21-9) and Brian Coates (21-6) helped Adwick (rec 31) cause an upset in the Brooke Farm Handicap second round, beating top division Bawtry (rec 28) 196-143.

Hilary Bennett’s 21-6 win was not enough for Yorkshire Main (rec 29) as Phil Stones (21-2) won the match for Carcroft (rec 34), 183-157.

Andy Jones (21-6), Mick Boyd (21-4), Thomas Boyd (21-1), Dave Patrickson junior (21-4) and Malcolm Fox (21-5) helped Woodlands Park (rec 1) brush aside Eden Grove-Peglers (rec 35) 169-100.

Although conceding a massive 57 points start, last year’s winners Maltby BC (rec 1) were in front after four jacks with wins from Jonathan Sneddon (21-1), Darren Stevenson (21-1), Ross Meese (21-5) and Lee Davies (21-0). Dean Myers added a 21-5 win for good measure in their 165-121 success over

Mick Boyd (21-9), Thomas Boyd (21-9), Tom Boyd (21-6), John Richardson (21-8) and Malcolm Fox (21-5) gave Woodlands Park an easy passage into the quarter-finals of the Hospital Cup with a 165-85 win over Rossington.

Dave Dinnie’s 21-9 win proved vital for Woodlands Park B in their 148-145 victory at Denaby.

Tarsen Sambhi (21-3), Brian Clark (21-6) and Ryan Lysons (21-9) shone for Carcroft in their 151-116 win over Hexthorpe.

Holders Maltby BC had big wins from Ken Thompson (21-6), John Sneddon (21-6), Frank Spowart (21-8), Darren Stevenson (21-3) and Jonathan Sneddon (21-9) in their 163-87 romp against Pilks Rec C.

Thorpe Marsh Bentley posted a 155-131 win over Pilks Rec B.
