HOLDERS Adwick B cleared the first round of Doncaster Bowls Association’s Eric Warren Handicap, played on a four at home, four away basis, when beating Tickhill 183-168.
Adwick (rec 20) were held to a 92-92 draw by Tickhill (rec 28) in their home leg.
Bill Fletcher won 21-8 for Adwick, while Tickhill’s only win came from Jim Stoddart (21-9). Adwick (rec 27) won 91-76 at Tickhill (rec 23) in the away leg with Alan Burns (21-8) and Alvin Langham (21-3) both excelling.
Pilkington Rec C also progressed following their overall 197-190 win over Carcroft B. Peter Wilson (21-8) was the pick of Pilks’ (rec 26) 103-89 home leg win over Carcroft (rec 27). Carcroft (rec 23) won their home leg 101-94, but it wasn’t enough.
*Margaret Smith (21-9) just fell short of earning Bawtry a draw.in their 151-150 Over-60s League Division One derby defeat at home to Bawtry. Dave Concannon (21-2) and Keith Swancott (21-7) were on form for Roundwood in their 165-99 win over Parklands. Roundwood as Charlie Wootton (21-6), Mick Baker (21-7) and Norman Clowes (21-2) performed well for Pilkingtons in their 149-105 win.
Keith Huckerby (21-4) and Cynthia Tonge (21-6) were good winners for Armthorpe, but wins from Eddie Hailes (21-8) and John Stead (21-4) won the Division Two game (133-124) for Hexthorpe.
Captain Brian Line (21-4) stood out for Westfield Park in their 168-115 win over Yorkshire Main. Brian Parker (21-3) starred for Bentley Colliery in their 141-127 victory over Hexthorpe (Norman Averill 21-7).
Danny Ruffini won 21-4 for Eden Grove-Peglers but Askern won(119-114) thanks to Nora Buxton (21-5) and Dennis Reilly (21-4). Derek Spence (21-9) and Colin Stothard (21-8) featured for Bawtry B in their 147-125 Division Three derby win over Rossington B.
