Chesterfield boss Lee Richardson is still on the hunt for several more faces to boost his squad ahead of the return to pre-season training at the start of next month.
And in addition he has strongly rejected stories about the possible departure of tricky frontman Jamie Ward, rumoured to be interesting Northampton Town in recent days. Ironically one man believed to have been a Richardson target, 21 year old winger Liam Davis, released by Coventry, has just joined Northampton.
Nopw he could attempt to sign Middlesbrough winger Graeme Owens, who had a spell at Chesterfield towards the end of the campaign. A loan would seem to be the most likely agreement.
Richardson also feels defender Janos Kovacs is unlikely to re-sign having failed to have responded to the new offer he was made at the end of last season.
Chesterfield have brought in Robert Page (Huddersfield), Kevin Austin (Swansea) and ex-Port Vale skipper Paul Harsley. He has also signed ex-loan man Lloyd Kerry from the Blades while Derek Niven and Phil Picken signed new deals.
