SHEFFIELD have finally confirmed they expect to snap up talented teenager Tyson Nelson and give him his Premier League debut as soon as the paperwork is complete.
Nelson, 17, has impressed fans who have stayed behind to see him in action after meetings this season after the club sponsored him to come across from Australia and try his hand on British tracks.
Now the club have revealed how they expect to hand Nelson his first chance at senior level, but there is the small matter of a work permit first.
Permit rules have been tightened since UK Border Agency controls were revised in April, meaning Sheffield have had to work their way through reams of paperwork.
Sheffield co-promoter David Hoggart said: "As far as we're concerned he is our rider and we will give him a chance as soon as we possibly can.
"Natrurally there is a lot of interest in a kid who impresses like he has done but we have already put in a lot of time and investment to the lad and we expect to name him in our team when the opportunity arises."
Club owner Neil Machin said: "Things have changed regarding work permits, especially for young riders, and it's certainly not as easy to get a permit as it was.
"The criteria has changed and, believe me, we are working hard to get it finalised. People used to be able to nip across the channel to make an official application but it's not as simple as that any more. It might even mean Tyson going back to Australia to put in his in.
"People are asking why we haven't used him yet, especially with Simon Lambert having been brought in this week, but it's a case of making the numbers fit as well as getting the official paperwork sorted out.
"Tyson's an impressive young rider and there's certainly a place for him here at Owlerton."
Lambert will make his Tigers debut in tomorrow's tough Premier League clash with Rye House at Owlerton.
