SHEFFIELD Tigers will bid to add the Premier League Four Team title to that of the Pairs Championship when they take their place at Peterborough on Sunday, August 15 (2.30).
The Owlerton side are likely to track Ricky Ashworth, Josh Auty, Richard Hall and Josef Franc at the event, which is the fourth in British Speedway's Super 7even series of meetings.
The meeting will revive memories of both 1999 and 2002 when they won the event - and at Peterborough! It's the first time the meeting will be staged back at the East of England Showground after a few seasons at Workington. Ashworth, who partnered Auty to victory in the Pairs event at Somerset a fortnight ago, is well and truly up for the challenge.
He said: "Peterborough is a track I know well; I like it there. I don't see any reason why we can't go there and pull off the win. All four of us are capable of winning races and it will be a big day for Richard Hall because he knows how to get around that track having raced for Peterborough in the Elite League.
"We've got plenty of confidence and it would be brilliant for us to win the Fours and then we have the Premier League Riders' Championship in September which I'd love to win for a second successive season." Tigers return to team action this Thursday when they host Newport, looking to build on their impressive win over King's Lynn last week.
Said Ashworth: "All the lads are buzzing and we need to keep it going. Who knows where we might end up by the end of the season, but a top four place is certainly on the cards for us."
