DONCASTER Knights have swooped to land Sedgeley Tigers scrum-half Jamie Albinson on a two-year deal.
"I first noticed Jamie when we played Sedgeley in a National League One match last season," said Knights' director of rugby, Lynn Howells, last night.
"Despite playing behind a pack, which was getting comprehensively beaten on the day, he still showed up well and was good at getting the ball away. He also controlled the pack the best that he could in the circumstances.
"I watched Jamie on several other occasions, and on DVD, and his form was consistent every time.
"He is good at communicating, which we need a little bit more of, and he will also give us a bit more sharpness than last season.
"But he is not as strong as Ben Jones was last season and he probably needs to work a bit more on his defence.
"He is one of three relatively young scrum-halves on the books and they'll all be pushing each other and there will be a lot of competition for places next season."
Albinson's signing completes the Doncaster squad for the 2008-09 campaign.
Said Howells: "We started early and identified areas that we needed to strengthen and then started after Christmas to look for players who we thought would fill the role and help us play the type of rugby that both myself and backs' coach Justin Bishop want to play next season."
