LUKE Gross, one of Doncaster Knights' most influential players, has decided to call time on his rugby career because of recurring injury problems.
The Indiana-born lock made his decision after being forced to pull out of a pre-season training session due to injury.

"With 62 caps for his home country, and a career that took in Premiership rugby, Luke has made a success of his time in the sport," said media manager Martin Haythorne.

"Luke has also been a great ambassador for the game as a whole and for Doncaster Knights in particular."

Said director of rugby, Lynn Howells: "I respect Luke's decision to follow a new path. But it is a sad day for us all as he is as important off the pitch as he is on it with his ability and unique playing style.

"The future holds many options for Luke and, like everyone at Doncaster Knights, I am sure he will make as big an impact in the future as he has done on the rugby pitch."
