DONCASTER Knights Rugby Union Club have moved quickly to replace American international second-rower Luke Goss, who recently announced his retirement due to injury.
Frenchman Allam Boumedi enne linked up with his new National League One team-mates yesterday.
The 28-year-old has spent most of his career in the French Top 14, the top French Division, and is an experienced second-row as well as good cover for the No 8 position currently occupied by Chris Planchant.
Said director of rugby Lynn Howells:"In France this boy is described as "a bit of a handful", but I'm sure he will buckle down and be a great addition to the pack for this season."
Boumedienne began his career at Toulon playing there for three years until the year 2000.
In his first year at the club he helped their Under-21 side to win the French championship. Over the next two seasons he broke into the first team and eventually became first choice No 8.
He then spent three seasons seasons at Narbonne and held down a regular starting spot despite an International No 8 being in the squad.
Boumedienne converted to second row after joining French Second Division side Tarbes.
He returned to the No 8 shirt when moving back up to the First Division to play for Auch.
Boumedienne moved on again and helped Barcelona win the Spanish title in 2006-07.
He returned to play in the French Second Division with Blagnac - punished for financial irregularities last season.
