DONCASTER Knights converted their chances to beat rugby union rivals Doncaster Phoenix by 20 runs in a charity cricket game to raise money for DRI's Neo-Natal Unit.
A crowd of more than 200 turned out at Doncaster Town's Bennetthorpe ground to see the two sides do battle in the annual 20/20 charity fixture.
Batting first, the National League One giants notched up 154 for 7 in their allotted overs, with former Leeds Tykes prop Michael Cusack (37) and fly-half Cerith Rees (34) leading the way.
For Phoenix, Will Hircock turned in figures of 2-15, with director of rugby, Bill Farley also weighing in with 2-22.
In reply, the Yorkshire League Three side struggled for early runs.
But they picked up pace in the middle of their innings, with club president Iain Lovell, fly-half Tim Elliott and flanker Joe Horrocks all scoring 25.
Despite an enterprising late knock of 15 from Farley, Phoenix finished on 134-6, 20 runs short of the Knights total. Cusack took 2-16.
